Team Description

The Events team organizes speaker and educational events, particularly in terms of logistics and such.

Responsibilities:

• Handle organization and logistics for speaker and educational events, collaborating closely with BizDev and Education

Challenge

• Speaker event case (option 1)
  • We are inviting a theoretical speaker from a16z to speak to the club/penn. Our BizDev team has confirmed that the speaker has agreed to come without thedates/details settled.
  • Q1: You are added to a group chat with thesaid speaker. Draft a message or series of messages to send back / your immediate next steps.
    • E.g. draft a message asking their availability for in-person/virtual events
  • Q2: Brainstorm a list of key tasks to be accomplished leading up to the event and potentially afterwards, providing a (max) 3-sentence explanation for each.
  • Q3: Many unexpected events or circumstances can occur in the process of organizing such an event (e.g. speaker withdraws). Please anticipate some of the challenges and discuss how you would plan to deal with them.
• Learning event case (option 2)
  • As a club, we hope to deliver web3 knowledge in a fun, interactive manner as much as possible. We want your help designing fun yet educational events that promote web3 knowledge. These events can be pure-knowledge oriented or more building-focused.
    • Some ideas: blockchain trivia night, Box and Chess (for chess clubs), combine some blockchain activity with alcohol perhaps?
  • Q1: Write a draft proposal for such an event with the following objectives
    • Gather internal support for such an idea (convince the team that it’s a good idea and would have real impact)
    • Preemptively answer common questions people might have
    • Teammates should be able to organize such an event using your proposal as an outline or guide
